Toluene import data

Toluene is a liquid that does not dissolve in water and hence is largely used as a solvent to dissolve paints, silicone components, rubber, ink, leather tanners, etc. It is also used as booster in gasoline fuels used in industrial machines. The chemical has more wide industrial applications which are evident from its huge imports.
Toluene import data for the month of June’14 reveal that $73,286,796 worth of toluene has been imported from Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Germany, etc. Singapore is the largest exporter of toluene to India with an estimated monthly import of $32,320,699. The country accounts for 44% of the import of toluene into India. A vast proportion of the import is received at Kandla airport and rest at JNPT, Bombay port and Vizag. Rests of the minor sea ports in India also receive a small proportion of toluene imports.

Toluene import data has been compiled by the customs officials stationed at various sea ports. The data is prepared from the official documents that accompany the consignment.  Import duties and cesses are also computed and levied based on the Toluene import data. This data is of high importance to local traders as they are able to seek more information about foreign suppliers. They are in a position to bargain better rates with existing suppliers or seek fresh suppliers at lower rates.
